Johann Joseph Ziegler (1795-1858)

Ziegler's workshop, established in 1821 and operating
until at least 1895, was the longest-lived and most
prolific of the 19th-century Viennese woodwind manufacturering
companies. Its instruments were played in bands and
orchestras throughout the period in Austria and Germany,
Italy, and Scandinavia, even making appearances in England
and France where Boehm-system
and hybrid flutes wer more
common.

Ziegler's flutes changed with the times: the elegance
and panache of the earlier models was superceded by
a more robust construction under the influence of the
Meyer
flute after about 1850.
